In partnership with PUNK SCHOLARS NETWORK, NEW ROSE CIC is organising a WOMEN IN PUNK Conference for International Women’s Day 2026.
The theme for next year’s IWD is ‘ACCELERATE ACTION’ and a speaker on this topic would be great.
Possible other themes include (but are not limited to):
– Riot Grrrl legacies and feminist interventions in punk
– Anti-racist activism
– Intersectionality in punk: race, class, gender, sexuality, and disability
– Motherhood
– Punk aesthetics and visual culture (zines, fashion, film, art)
– Activism, resistance, and community-building through punk
– Local, global, and transnational punk scenes
– Autoethnographies and personal narratives of women in punk
We welcome submissions from diverse disciplines and perspectives, including cultural studies, musicology, history, sociology, gender studies, and performance.
Submissions may take the form of:
– Individual papers or panel proposals
– Workshops or roundtable discussions
– Oral histories and interviews
– Performances or multimedia presentations
Proposals should include a 250–300 word abstract, a short bio, and contact information.
